Trust

The short version, for grown-ups: what we never collect, what we keep, and who to tell if something looks wrong. The privacy policy has the full version.

What we never collect

  • A child’s name, age or photo. If a grown-up types a nickname for a bear buddy, it stays on the device, and our servers refuse settings that look like a child’s details.
  • Where you are. The app never reads your device’s location. You type a place, and only that place is used for the weather.
  • Data for ads. There are no ads and no ad networks. The only outside scripts the app may load come from Cloudflare, which runs the site.
  • Your card details. You pay Stripe on its own page, and we never see them.

The weather

When you type a place, your browser asks Open-Meteo to find it and then for its weather. It sends the text you typed and the place’s coordinates. Open-Meteo can see your device’s IP address when it answers. We send it nothing else.

What we count

We keep daily totals of how often parts of the app are used, such as how many times it was opened. Each is one number for the day, with no identifier, no account and no place. Nothing is counted if your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control. In the app, Settings, then Privacy and data, has a short card called What Wear Bear holds.

What stays on the device

The sticker book, bear buddies and their nicknames, special days, and the place you chose live on the device they were made on. They are not sent to us, with or without an account.

What an account holds

  • Your email address. There are no passwords: we email a code.
  • Your settings, and the grown-up PIN as a scrambled value, never the PIN itself.
  • The names you give your devices, and when each last signed in.
  • If you buy Plus, a small record of the purchase: Stripe’s reference numbers, the amount and the dates.

You can download all of it, or delete the account, in the app under Settings, then Privacy and data.

Who helps us, and what each one gets

  • Cloudflare runs the site and our database, and counts page views. Because it serves every request, it can see your IP address and browser type.
  • Resend sends our email, so it receives your address and the message.
  • Stripe takes the payment for Plus. We send it your email address and your account’s random id. You give it your card on its page.
  • Open-Meteo answers weather questions, as above.

Each has its own privacy policy.

If you find a problem

Write to [email protected] and say what you saw. A person reads it. We write back to say we have it, fix real problems as soon as we can, and tell you when it is done if you ask. Please do not send a child’s details. Our contact details for security reports are also at /.well-known/security.txt.
